From governor candidate Bruce Rauner, Oct. 21:
Democratic Illinois Senate President John Cullerton said that our state’s $100 billion pension debt is not a “crisis”.
Illinois’ pension debt is the worst in the country.
Illinois’ credit rating has been downgraded 13 times since Pat Quinn took office.
And Illinois spends nearly one-quarter of all general fund money on pension payments.
Make no mistake: we have a pension crisis, and it is holding Illinois back.
The political leaders in charge just don’t get it. We need to shake up Springfield – and that’s what our campaign is all about.
I know we can bring back Illinois, but it will take all of us working together to overcome the special interests and career politicians standing in the way. Please join today.
Let’s get it done.
