Tom Cross On State’s Failure To Enact Pension Reform

Illinois State Representative and candidate for Illinois State Treasurer Tom Cross on Nov. 8 released the following statement in response to the continuing failure of Springfield to enact comprehensive pension reform:

Another session has concluded and Springfield has failed yet again to lead on a critically important issue to Illinois families: stabilizing and securing the nations worst funded pension system.

Each day of inaction costs taxpayers and drains state funds for critical services like education, healthcare and public safety.

I am running for state treasurer to take on big challenges and will demand our state enforce the balanced budget requirement, while also identifying and rooting out corruption with a new government integrity unit.

As opposed to my opponent, Mike Frerichs, who supports the status quo, I believe it is time to fix this problem and Illinois simply cannot wait any longer.
